I understand that I may be unlucky with my playing times, but it has been this way for a few days and it gets frustrating. Nothing more to do now other than keep trying, right?

To start off I wanted to first state that I am in disagreement with the way the server handles camp rules. In classic, it was defined to me by a GM that the play nice rules scrutinized a camp as being, "a player or group's ability to hold down any number of camps as defined per capita universally by the players". So basically, so long as you can hold down the mobs, you can claim the camp. In order to do so though, said group had to have the ability to keep all of the mobs down in all camps claimed at—for the most part—all times.
You should not be limited in what you can kill or how much experience or reward you can obtain with your own prowess. If you have a group efficient enough to hold 4 camps, then you should be able to claim all 4 camps. If you want to give up a set camp to another group or player, that should be determined by the players in question, not the rules. This rule also stated that the group had to get experience from the mobs they were fighting. Also, players on this server apparently are defining your claim of a camp directly on if you're currently at the camp or not. For example, I was in Solusek's Eye last night camping Kindle and I moved to another room because the group there had asked me if I would be so kind as to give their group clarity. I did, as well as haste, and while doing so a camp check was made where I had done an ooc state that Kindle was camped. I then went afk for about 5 minutes at max to get my dinner which had just been finished and when I came back, a level 50 mage had entered the Kindle spawn room telling me I had to be there to hold a camp and he was going to take it. In the end he didn't but this isn't really an uncommon example from my experience so far on this server. Another time entirely where our group was camping Kindle, we weren't camping in his room because it was more efficient to pull from the room we were in but that was the only named we were claiming, and a 50 monk came in and "claimed" Kindle albeit our detailing in all camp checks that it was camped. His excuse was "we weren't in the room". We shouldn't have to be AT a spawn location to claim a camp, that's ridiculous. Some of the spawn locations of mobs in Everquest are far more dangerous than other locations in which the named can be more safely pulled to or fought. Some players also know some very useful tricks on fighting or pulling given mobs or locations to and or from. Players should NEVER be penalized for utilizing this knowledge for their benefit, this is a huge aspect of what makes a game of this nature entertaining; letting players utilize their knowledge and or skill to better overcome obstacles. My question then is: are the policies on this server policed? My brother and I have petitioned many times for kill stealers, name policy violations and other issues and virtually never get replies or have anything done. I feel there should be swift action on these issues. If you're not going to police your rules, don't have the rules, abolish them. I could petition daily for the number of times I see people train, ks, or attempt to steal a camp from somebody lower level. I could hit the Commonlands tunnels and petition 40 names that blatantly violate the name policy at any given time, and even if you feel that isn't a big issue that's relevant—well it's a policy and it's in writing and it should be enforced or abolished, and that’s really the point; that's simple enough to rationalize and if the server doesn't have the GM's/guides to police, then I’ll gladly become a GM/guide so I can police. I'll police using fraps to prove issues while on my primary character so every time I run into an issue I can log on my guide character and police the system; I have no problem helping out in this way. I enjoy playing on this server and I've brought 5 people with me. Those of us that frequently play keep this server going, so we need these people to continue to keep the server strong. We need appropriate rules and enforcement to make sure the players continue to play for the long term, and we need fair rules that while not penalizing players for their abilities, do help ensure that selfish individuals do not hog everything from everybody else. Hell last night I gave up my camp to the group I gave clarity to just because I felt bad I was taking a bunch of the mobs there since I knew I could go to another camp farther away from them and get just about the same exp solo. This is how the server needs to behave, we don’t need bullies pushing us around for being kind, and we don’t need rules that restrict the good players from their camps. It was told to me once that car door locks were invented for one purpose, to keep honest people honest. I don’t want my “car” broken into, but I also don’t want to be forced by “law” to use a specific kind of anti-theft device either. Let me do my own thing and punish those that try to steal from those of us who aren’t quite so selfish. Thank you. | ||
